Collaborative Practice

An interdisciplinary approach that helps families navigate separation respectfully, without going to Court.

Collaborative Practice is a voluntary process that helps separating couples resolve parenting, property and financial matters without the cost and stress of court proceedings. Each person is supported by their own collaboratively trained lawyer, and everyone commits to working respectfully together to reach an agreement that meets the needs of the whole family. In this process, Julia works as the Collaborative coach, a neutral facilitator who establishes a safe environment, guides the communication, and keeps everyone focused on the present and future needs of the family.

As part of this interdisciplinary approach, clients may also be supported by a financial neutral to assist with financial modelling and options, and, where appropriate, a child specialist who helps bring the child's voice into the process. The process is transparent, client-centred and focused on helping families make informed decisions that meet the needs of everyone involved.
